Stable Arts is based in the Grade 2 listed Victorian Stable block in the beautiful grounds of Nynehead Court, near Wellington in Somerset. The Stables have been sympathetically converted to provide space for delivering arts and crafts courses for all abilities.
The gardens are a delight at any time of year, and provide a haven of peace and solitude.
Nynehead Court is a care home located in a magnificent Grade 2* listed 17th Century Manor House, described by Pevsner as “a remarkably early example of the classical style in Somerset”. Find out more about this gracious living care home on the Nynehead Court website.
In September 2015 a Sculpture Park was opened. Works by Chris Webb, John Payne, Stefan Jenning, Peter Brooke-Ball, Melanie Deegan, Scarlet Von Teazel and Frank Martin can be seen in the grounds, additional installations are introduced regularly. Open to the public Wednesday to Sunday between 11am and 4pm
Courses and Workshops
We provide a wide range of courses and workshops including mosaics, stained glass, stone carving, textiles, drawing and painting. For 2019 we have introduced three gardening courses led by Jenny Short. All of our tutors are professional artists and craftspeople with experience of running workshops and courses.
Exhibitions
Stable Arts also curates exhibitions in The Orangery at Nynehead Court. This is an ideal exhibition space to display two dimensional work. We believe in art for all and curate a diverse programme of exhibitions which include work by local community groups as well as professional artists.
We welcome inquiries from local art and community groups and individuals who would be interested in having an exhibition in The Orangery in 2019 and 2020.
Opening times for exhibitions are:
Daily except Tuesdays from 10am til 4.30pm.
