Stable Arts is based in the Grade two listed Victorian Stable block in the beautiful grounds of Nynehead Court, near Wellington in Somerset. The Stables have been sympathetically converted to provide a dedicated studio space for delivering art and crafts courses across a wide spectrum of creative disciplines.

Entrance to Stable Arts

The gardens are a delight at any time of year, and provide a haven of peace, solitude and an inspiration for our visiting artists.

Garden at Stable Arts

Nynehead Court is a care home located in a magnificent Grade Two listed 17th Century Manor House, described by Pevsner as “a remarkably early example of the classical style in Somerset”. Find out more about this gracious living care home on the Nynehead Court website.

In September 2015 a Sculpture Park was opened. Works by Chris Webb, John Payne, Stefan Jenning, Peter Brooke-Ball, Melanie Deegan, Scarlet Von Teazel and Frank Martin can be seen in the grounds, additional installations are introduced regularly.

Sadly our gardens currently closed during the pandemic

Courses and Workshops

We provide a wide range of art and craft courses and workshops including mosaics, stained glass, letter carving, wire sculpture, art doll making, watercolour books,  printmaking of many types, textile art and fabric dyeing, ceramics, silver jewellery casting, copper forging, quilling, plaster,  illustration, crochet, drawing and painting in various styles and mediums and many more next year!

All of our tutors are professional artists and craftspeople living and working throughout the county of Somerset with experience of running workshops and courses.

We welcome inquiries from local art and community groups and individuals who would be interested in having an exhibition in The Orangery in 2022 after the pandemic is over.

Venue Hire

As well as a programme of creative workshops we also provide dedicated venue hire. The space is set out over two levels with a kitchenette on the ground floor, next to a small meeting area with large workshop space on the first floor.
