Silversmithing

… … …

Cat works at Little Haddon Barn, near the village of Skilgate, on the edge of Exmoor National Park. Her purpose built workshop is converted from a stone cattle shed (or linhay), using wherever possible repurposed materials, or seconds from a local saw mill.
She is a strong advocate of recycle and re-use, my focus is mixing new with recycled metal. Taking scrap sterling silver, she melts it down and ether cast it into her designs, or forge into organic shapes. To this she adds recycled copper and brass, these base metals giving contrast and colour to her work. Her handmade jewellery is made using traditional hand tools and avoiding harmful chemicals, packaged in recycled boxes.
Her mobile workshop is a lot of fun, she has been running these for the last ten years at festivals, street fairs, art trails and private events. She very much enjoys the contrast of the quiet serenity when working alone in her work space, and the vibrancy of a busy event.
