Our fast pace of life and throwaway society has rekindled an interest in slow stitch. Slow stitch sessions with Helen Layfield are a great way to relax and unwind. Learn a new craft and be creative, recycle and preserve your everyday heirlooms. These sessions will start in September but do come along on Thursday July 18th 10am – 1pm for a taster session and create your own slow stitch book from treasured pieces of fabric, threads, beads and buttons, or materials supplied by Helen.
Helen has been a community artist, tutor and mentor for 25 years. She has worked with a wide variety of age groups and abilities from primary, GCSE and A’Level to adult education classes. Helen has diplomas in mindfulness and meditation and has completed research in identity and story telling through creativity with a passionate belief that everybody is creative. With the interest in recycling, making by hand and wellbeing slow stitch is a relaxing, sociable, inclusive form of creativity. Slow stitch has no complicated techniques, no specialist materials and can be done anywhere at any time.
If you are unable to attend this session but would be interested in joining future sessions please contact Mary to register an interest.
You can expect a warm welcome in a friendly and supportive atmosphere in The Stables, set in the beautiful grounds of Nynehead Court.
