A great opportunity to create a finished sculpture using wire, acrylic resin and mixed media. No previous experience is required and the day will be suitable for all levels of ability. This one day workshop is led by Melanie Deegan.
The workshop will begin by looking at the design you would like to use as inspiration for your sculpture, this will then be sketched in 3D using wire to create the armature or framework for the sculpture. The piece will continue to be developed with additional wire, resin, materials and a plaster base if required. A range of colours can be added to the resin and it is possible to make work in almost any shade or mix of colours.
The sculpture can be figurative or abstract, if you have ideas or images you would like to use then do bring them along otherwise there will be a selection of books and reference material available to use for inspiration.
Melanie Deegan is a professional sculptor who uses light-weight materials to help create a feeling of movement in her subjects. The textured and open nature of her animals and figures is quite distinctive with some appearing to be emerging from thin air or only partially formed.
